Hi, my name is Elena. I’m married to my best friend and together we have 2 amazing boys, 5 and 2 years old, and our fur baby, 9 years old. We love school, both of us thrive in a classroom setting, so we just assumed that our extroverted boys would love that learning environment as well. We were wrong, so so so wrong. January, 5 2017 , less than one year after I vowed not to homechool my kids, we officially started…you guessed it! homeschooling our twice exceptional son. Term twice exceptional (or 2e) often refers to intellectually gifted children who also have some form of disability or learning differences. Our oldest is an amazing, creative, passionate, curious and intense out-of-the-box thinker. Knowing that he really is gifted and that his mind really does work differently explained so many quirks, answered so many questions and helped us reconnect and not feel so isolated and frustrated. It’s not an easy road, but it’s so worth it! I’m so thankful for Oklahoma’s vibrant and diverse homeschooling community! Words can not expressed how blessed we are by all the friends and like-minded families we met on this rollercoaster. Thank you!!!
